2.0HDI Xsara Picasso won’t start. Battery light on.

Just bought a 2.0HDI Xsara Picasso. Drove absolutely fine for 3 days then parked car up, went back 20 minutes later engine turned over very slow and wouldn’t start.

Tested battery found 12.3 volts so fitted a new battery and car is exactly the same.

When I turn the ignition on the spanner on the dash flashes fast and the ignition lights come on, but after 5 seconds the ignition lights go out and just the battery light stays on. The battery light stays on for 10 seconds even after I have taken the key out of the ignition. Checked fault codes in ecu and there are non stored.

Can anyone help please
